Numerical methods with Excel: Practical guide for engineers reflects more than ten years of academic and research work at the University of America Foundation. This guide presents a dynamic and interactive course based on the use of the digital computer. It should be noted that the results of the algorithms will be compared, as far as possible, with the values of the analytical solution to establish the error, accuracy, precision, and stability of that method. Most of the models an engineer works on lack an analytical solution, therefore, numerical approximations for problem-solving become relevant. It should also be noted that each algorithm involves numerous arithmetic and logical operations, which require pseudocodes for the student to program in Excel the methods proposed in each chapter. In addition, the text is oriented towards problem-solving since engineering students appropriate learning better if motivated by the solution of models with applications to their interest areas. It also emphasizes a pedagogical methodology in which the algorithm and its demonstration are formulated, and practical examples are proposed and developed clearly and explicitly with tables, figures, and analysis of results.
